Five days after claiming the MLS Cup over DC United, the Chicago Fire returned to Soldier Field for the 1998 U.S. Open Cup final vs. Columbus Crew. Frank Klopas scored the winning goal in extra time to give his hometown Club the victory and second trophy of the year.
