The Fire captain recorded an assist in a shutout victory over Charlotte FC on Saturday at Bank of America Stadium
CHICAGO (Sept. 28, 2026) – Chicago Fire FC defender Jack Elliott was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 28 following his performance in Saturday night’s 1-0 win against Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
The Fire captain recorded a game-winning assist in the 58th minute of the match, when he got in front of an attempted clearance of Philip Zinckernagel’s corner kick and deflected it into the path of an open Johan Gómez for his first goal with Chicago. The tally was all the Fire needed on a night in which Elliott's defense held the hosts to only two shots on goal, posting a shutout for the first time since May.
Elliott returns to the MLS Team of the Matchday for the first time since the penultimate week of the 2025 season, when he tallied both goals in the 2-2 draw against Toronto FC on Oct. 6, 2025 at Soldier Field. That was the third such honor of 2025 for the London-born defender, who joined the Fire in December 2024 and has played in 57 regular season contests since.
