ABOUT OUR UPCOMING TOURNAMENTS

PK Challenge | August 24, 2024
A new opportunity to put your skills to the test! The PK Challenge will be a tournament-style event, but we go straight to penalty kicks. Teams should consist of kickers and a goalkeeper. The maximum roster size is seven players. Each team is guaranteed to have five matchups (at minimum) with group winners advancing to the knockout rounds. Teams can opt for competing on the 8v8 goals or full-sized 11v11 goals. PK Challenge champions will receive unique champion t-shirts.

Chicago World Cup | August 31, 2024
Uniting the world around the beautiful game, the Chicago World Cup seeks to bring together teams representing the various embassies and consulates in Chicago for a one-day tournament. The goal is to foster a sense of community across participating teams and create a safe, fun, and competitive space for nations to compete. All teams will be guaranteed to play a minimum of three 28-minute games and a maximum of six. The champion team will receive unique Champion t-shirts, as well as matchday tickets to a Chicago Fire FC home game.

Labor Day 3v3 Cup | September 1, 2024 & September 2, 2024
Celebrate the Labor Day holiday with some sun, soccer, and fun! The Labor Day 3v3 Cup is a small-sided tournament for teams of all levels. Max roster is six players per team and every team is guaranteed to play a minimum of three 20-minute games. Teams who advance past the group stage will move on to a knockout round. The champion team will receive unique Champion t-shirts!

Fan Cup | November 2024
Chicago Fire Rec Soccer is excited to bring passionate soccer fans from across Chicago together to compete in our annual Supporters Cup. Our Supporters Cup is a one-day, coed 8v8 tournament open to any supporter group representing any club in world fútbol. Previously, we have welcomed supporter groups from Chicago Fire FC, Premier League, Liga MX, LaLiga, Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, and the Scottish Premiership. All teams will be guaranteed to play a minimum of three 28-minute games and a maximum of six. The champion team will receive Champion t-shirts, autographed CFFC flag (signed by CFFC's first team), and your team's registration fee donated to a charity of your choice.

Men's Fall Cup | November 3, 2024
Carrying a $10,000 prize, the Fall Cup is a Men's 8v8 tournament that is open to any team. The 2024 tournament will be the second annual Fall Cup. Hosted at the Fire Pitch, in Chicago's North Center neighborhood, all teams will be guaranteed to play a minimum of three games (maximum of six) on one of four pristine artificial turf fields. The Fire Pitch is also home to Heineken Pub97, an on-site, full service bar and restaurant. All games will use a certified USSF referee with two referees being used for the championship match. The champion team will be awarded a $10,000 prize.

FIRE PITCH & PUB97

Heineken Pub97 is a full-service bar and restaurant – a perfect place to refuel between games and celebrate after your games conclude! The Pub has both indoor and outdoor seating. However, no alcoholic beverages are permitted on or near the fields.

Fire Pitch Store is located after entering the front doors of the building beyond the front desk. The store sells snacks, beverages, Chicago Fire FC merchandise, as well as medical tape, shin guards, pre-wrap, and other items for game day, in case you’ve forgotten anything.

Credit card payments and Apple Pay are accepted at the front desk.

TOURNAMENT RULES

All team captains will receive a Tournament Handbook prior to the tournament via email.

All games will be officiated by USSF-certified referees. All ISAB Laws of the Game apply with the following exceptions/modifications.

  • Games are 28 minutes in duration with no halftime.
  • If Coed outdoors, 8v8 (7+Goalkeeper) Teams must always have a minimum of two female players on the field and cannot have more than six male players on the field.
  • If Men’s outdoors, 8v8 (7+Goalkeeper)
  • If Coed indoors, 7v7 (6+Goalkeeper) Teams must always have a minimum of two female players on the field and cannot have more than six male players on the field.
  • If Men’s indoors, 7v7 (6+Goalkeeper)
  • No offsides enforced with 8v8 or 7v7 games.
  • Rolling substitutes that must enter/exit the side of the field where their team is located.
  • Kick-ins to return ball from out of play over the touchlines.
  • All free kicks are direct.
  • You can score from a kick-in, goal kick, corner, etc.
  • Five (5) yards must be given on all free kicks and kick-ins.
  • If an indirect foul occurs in the box, a direct free kick will be given at top of the box.
  • Slide tackling is not permitted (Coed and Men’s).
  • Sliding when an opponent is not in the vicinity of the ball is permitted.
    • Example, sliding to keep the ball in play with no one around near the touchline.
  • Penalties taken from the penalty spot.
  • Goal kicks given when the ball is put out of play by the opponent across the goal line.
  • Goalkeepers are permitted to volley and half-volley.
  • Goalkeepers can slide in the box leading with their feet or hands, permitted they are attempting to play the ball – this is at the discretion of the referee.
  • Teams must have at least five players on the field for 8v8 game to start, and four players on the field for 7v7 games.
  • If, after 5 minutes, a team does not have the minimum number of players on the field the game is considered a forfeit.
  • All forfeits are scored at 3-0.

PLAYOFF TIE BREAKER

  • If teams remain tied at the end of regulation play during the knockout rounds, they will follow these tiebreaker procedures:
  • Two-Minute Golden Goal Period
  • Three-Player Penalty Shootout
    • Teams will select three players to kick in an alternating format.
    • If still tied after the three, teams will continue alternating kickers until a team who scores goes unanswered by their opponent.
    • Teams who go past the original three kickers must use every player before the original three kickers may kick again.

EQUIPMENT

  • Shin guards are mandatory – players who do not have them will not be permitted to play.
  • Primary team jersey/colors.
  • Alternate team jersey/colors (in case of a kit clash) optional
  • Pinnies will be provided upon request from CFRS staff.
  • Goalkeepers must wear a different color from outfield players and referee.
  • Appropriate soccer attire and footwear are required, no metal cleats are permitted.
  • Players are not permitted to play with:
    • Glasses (sports goggles are permitted)
    • Watches and Smart Watches
    • Jewelry
    • Cleats with metal studs
    • Hard Casts
    • Ballcaps
    • Any other equipment or item(s) deemed dangerous by the referee.
