Bornstein, Mihailović selected to MLS Team of the Week for Week 19

A pair of key performances from the Fire's 2-2 come-from-behind draw against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday were recognized with Week 19 MLS Team of the Week selections, as announced on Monday.


Defender Jonathan Bornstein was chosen to the TOTW's first XI after additionally being named the Heineken Man of the Match for his effort. Over a 90-minute shift, Bornstein put in 13 defensive actions (tackles, blocks, interceptions, clearances, and recoveries,) according to Opta and helped the Fire secure a point at home. It was Bornstein's second selection to the MLS Team of the Week's first XI this season, after additionally making the Week 13 squad following the Fire's 4-0 win over Houston on Sept. 23.

Midfielder Djordje Mihailović was named to the TOTW bench after scoring the last gasp equalizer in dramatic fashion. Deep into second half stoppage time, Mihailović pulled down a lobbed pass from Mauricio Pineda, took a touch pass Kansas City goalkeeper Tim Melia, rounded a sliding defender, and coolly placed the tying goal into the net. It was the 21-year-old's second goal of the season, to go along with four assists.
