U-17 Chicago Fire FC Academy Advances to Quarterfinals of Inaugural DA Cup

CHICAGO(December 11, 2019) – The U-17 Chicago Fire FC Academy team won all three Group C games of the 2019 Winter Cup, scoring 12 goals while allowing only two. The nine points placed the team at the top of the table to advance to the Spring Cup Championship, where it will be placed in a knockout bracket against the likes of Sporting Kansas City, Philadelphia Union, Inter Miami CF, Montreal Impact, Sockers FC, LA Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes.


The Championship will take place April 29-May 4 at a location to be announced and will be the final event of the inaugural DA Cup. The eight-team knockout competition will conclude with the coronation of a DA Cup champion.


Missael Rodríguez, Brian Gutiérrez and Luka Bezerra kicked off the winning weekend, each scoring once in a 3-0 win against the New York Red Bulls in the team’s opening game. In the second game of the tournament, a 4-1 win against Pateadores came by way of goals from Jason Belloli, Brian Gutierrez, Ryan Quintos and Justin Reynolds.


U-17 Chicago Fire FC Academy closed out the competition with a 5-1 victory against San Antonio FC, with two goals from Luka Bezerra and one goal each from Erik Kocs-Washburn, Brian Gutierrez and Wyatt Borso.
