As revealed on Monday morning, Chicago Fire FC defender Francisco Calvo was selected to the 2019-20 League A Best XI team after the conclusion of the the Concacaf Nations League's group stage.

Calvo and Costa Rica finished atop Curaçao and Haiti in League A's Group D, thanks in part to Calvo's heroic goal-scoring efforts on the final weekend of group play. Calvo scored in each of Costa Rica's final two matches -- a 2-1 win over Curaçao on Nov. 14 and a 1-1 draw with Haiti on Nov. 17 -- to propel Los Ticos to an undefeated finish (1-0-3, six points) in the group.

Alongside League A's three other group winners -- Mexico, the United States, and Honduras -- Costa Rica advanced to the Nations League semifinals, set to take place in June 2020. They'll face Group B winners Mexico in the the first stage of the knockout round.

Calvo made 23 regular season appearances for the Fire in 2019 after being acquired from Minnesota United on May 3. The 27-year-old scored three times and assisted twice, while contributing defensively to eight clean sheets.
