Chicago Fire midfielder Micheal Azira got the starting nod for Uganda on Tuesday, playing 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw with Burkina Faso to open the group stage of 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifying.

The result puts the two nations level with a point a piece in Group B, each trailing group leaders Malawi following their 1-0 win against South Sudan. Azira and the Cranes will next host Malawi at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda, at 7:00 a.m. CT on Sunday, Nov. 17.

Azira was previously a member of the Uganda squad that participated in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, in which the team advanced to the Round of 16 with a win against the Democratic Republic of Congo and a tie against Zimbabwe before falling 1-0 to Senegal.
