After nodding home the match-winning goal in Saturday night's 3-2 victory over the Montreal Impact, Bastian Schweinsteiger has been named to the latest MLS Team of the Week!
In the 88th minute of a 2-2 game at SeatGeek Stadium, Schweinsteiger found himself the recipient of a Djordje Mihailović corner kick, and flicked the ball past Montreal goalkeeper Evan Bush to help deliver the Fire a crucial three points toward the Eastern Conference playoff chase. It was his third goal scored against the Montreal Impact, his most against any single team since entering the league in 2017.
The German legend was also a key part of the game's opening goal, when he patiently set up midfielder Dax McCarty for his first Fire finish in the eighth minute.
Schweinsteiger and the Fire now face their final two-match week of the season, which begins with a trip to Portland to take on the Timbers on Wednesday night (10 p.m. CT, ESPN+). Check out the rest of this week's Team of the Week below.
