Unbeaten in seven consecutive matches and coming off a sixth-straight victory at home, the Chicago Fire have neared the summit of the weekly MLS Power Rankings, checking in at the No. 2 spot in the latest edition.

Fireworks, Giveaways and More at Upcoming Home Matches

Goals from Luis Solignac and MLS Golden Boot Leader Nemanja Nikolic pushed the Fire past visiting Atlanta United FC on the weekend, elevating their 2017 point total to 28, second in all of MLS behind only the No. 1-ranked Toronto FC. The winning streak at home is the club's longest since 2012, and one shy of its all-time best.

Here's what league observers had to say about Chicago's current run of form, as well as their jump from No. 4 to No. 2 in the rankings:

"Last time they faced Atlanta, they got humiliated. This time, they were in control from the first minute and cruised to a 2-0 win that could've been twice that. The Fire are for real."

Following a mid-week U.S. Open Cup tilt at USL's St. Louis FC on Wednesday (7:30 pm CT), the Fire resume MLS play with a trip to New England on Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm CT and coverage on CSN Chicago.
