ACADEMY: Chicago Fire U-18s Pick Up Win in Spring Home Opener

The Chicago Fire Academy sides went 1-1-1 over the weekend against Sockers FC at Toyota Park on Saturday, March 12.


The U-18s defeated the Sockers 4-0, courtesy of a Jesus Perez brace, a goal from Djordje Mihalovic and a Sockers own goal. The U-16s fell 4-1 with Andrew Akindele tallying the lone strike for the Fire. The U-14s played to a 2-2 draw, with Miguel Herrera and David Ochoa tallying goals.


Next up for the Fire is the 2016 Generation adidas Cup in Frisco, Texas from March 18-26. The U-16s have been drawn into Group B in the Premier Division and will face off against Seattle Sounders FC on March 18, Orlando City SC on March 20 and Chivas de Guadalajara on March 22.


The U-12s will take on the Colorado Rapids and Sporting Kansas City on March 24 and Queretaro FC on March 25.


The Fire Academy sides return to USSDA action when they host the Crew SC Academy Wolves at Toyota Park on April 17.
