The Fire will finance and construct the multi-million-dollar facility, which will include a 53,000 square-foot performance center, two-and-a-half hybrid grass pitches, and three synthetic turf pitches, providing a world-class training environment for the Fire’s professional and Academy players and staff.

Alongside the facility, the Fire is also providing an $8 million community investment in nearby CHA housing, as well as long-term employment for community members, resources for minority and women-owned businesses, free sports programming for local youth, and more.

The lease is estimated to generate $40 million in revenue for the Chicago Housing Authority over the next 40 years, and CHA will use the proceeds to invest in its housing mission, including ABLA Brooks Homes, Loomis Courts, and Williams Jones.

COMING SOON: The all-new Chicago Fire FC Performance Center

Another major milestone in Chicago Fire FC history took place on April 25.

Chicago Fire FC Owner and Chairman Joe Mansueto joined Alderman Jason Ervin (28th Ward), Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot, and the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) for a ceremonial groundbreaking for the team’s brand-new performance center and training facility, set to be developed in the Roosevelt Square neighborhood on the Near West Side.

Slated to open in 2024, the new facility is rooted in a true public-private partnership. In addition to serving as a world-class training environment for the Fire’s professional and Academy players, the Chicago Fire’s Performance Center will help to generate jobs, resources for housing, indoor and outdoor community spaces, and much more for local residents.

“Being a part of and giving back to Chicago is at the heart of the Chicago Fire Football Club ethos, and we are excited to put down roots on the Near West Side in the Roosevelt Square community. The development of our new facility will provide a state-of-the-art training environment for our players, coaches, and sporting staff. Our facility will also serve as a community programming home to the next generation of Chicagoans, bringing our city together through the sport of soccer. We look forward to getting underway and continuing our work with local residents on this project.”
