USMNT Set to Wrap January Camp Following Friday Friendly

Matt Polster USMNT

After nearly a month of intensive training, the U.S. Men's National Team is ready to break from the 2016 edition of its annual January training camp, concluding with a Friday night friendly (Feb. 5) vs. Canada. The match kicks off at approximately 9:15 p.m. CT at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., and will air in the U.S. on FOX Sports 1, UniMas and UDN.

The Chicago Fire again have three representatives available for selection by Jurgen Klinsmann: veteran goalkeeper Sean Johnson, second-year midfielder Matt Polster and 2016 MLS SuperDraft first-round pick Brandon Vincent. Johnson claims five career caps, while Polster and Vincent are candidates for their first senior national team appearances as they prepare for possible inclusion in the U.S. U-23 squad's upcoming Olympic playoff vs. Colombia. The opportunity exists Friday for a pair of Chicago Fire field players to bookend the U.S. back line, with Polster primarily being deployed at right back on the international level while Vincent occupies his natural left back role.

All three are expected to join up with their Chicago Fire teammates Monday in Tampa, Fla.

Klinsmann's side came away with a 3-2 victory over Iceland Sunday in the first match of 2016 for the U.S. Men's National Team. D.C. United's Steve Birnbaum completed the U.S. comeback when he headed home a set piece delivery by Michael Bradley in the game's 90th minute.
