CHICAGO (Aug. 30, 2026) – Chicago Fire FC forward Robert Lewandowski was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday bench for Matchday 23 following his performance in Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Seattle Sounders FC at Lumen Field in Seattle.
Lewandowski received his third weekly honor – and second on the Team of the Matchday bench in as many weeks – after recording a goal and an assist in Seattle. With the Sounders in the lead, the striker displayed his iconic hold-up play in the box before laying off to Maren Haile-Selassie, who leveled with a low shot in the 38th minute. Seattle regained the lead minutes into the second half, but Chicago pulled even in the 82nd as Haile-Selassie played a ball up the right side for Puso Dithejane, who sent the ball to the far post. Lewandowski timed his run to head the equalizer in with half his body out of the box, giving the Fire their fifth-straight match without a loss.
The goal was Lewandowski’s fourth in league play and fifth across all competitions since joining Chicago, while the assist was his first. The two goal contributions in Seattle matched his season-high set on August 1, when he scored his first two goals with the Fire in the 2-1 victory against Charlotte FC at Soldier Field, earning him the honor of MLS Player of the Matchday for Matchday 19.
