Lineup Notes | Chicago Fire FC vs. LA Galaxy

Starting XI List 1920x1080

It's a Saturday night showdown at Soldier Field as the LA Galaxy visit the Lakefront for a 7 p.m. CT kickoff this evening.

The Fire return home following their first defeat of the season - a 1-0 finish last weekend at Orlando City SC - and will be looking to start a new unbeaten run tonight against the Galaxy. Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson will square off against former longtime teammate Greg Vanney, who has so far led the Galaxy to second place in the Western Conference with 12 points through their first six matches (4-0-2).

If you're not one of the 25,000+ expected fans in attendance this evening, coverage can be found on WGN, CF97 Live, Univision Radio, and MLS LIVE's out-of-market package on ESPN+. Ahead of the opening whistle, get the rundown on Hendrickson's starting XI and bench below:

  • A pair of changes have been made from the starting lineup last Saturday at Orlando City SC.
  • Captain Rafael Czichos returns to central defense after missing the Fire's last two matches due to health and safety protocols. He'll partner with Wyatt Omsberg, who starts his seventh-straight match.
  • Also back from injury is Miguel Navarro, who returns from a left knee injury. He and Boris Sekulić will lineup opposite one another out wide, rounding out tonight's defensive back line.
  • Also getting his seventh start of the season is Homegrown Mauricio Pineda, who is back in midfield tonight to partner with Federico Navarro.
  • Ahead of Pineda and Navarro in midfield are Stanislav Ivanov, Gaston Giménez, and Jonathan Bornstein. Tonight's start marks Giménez's 50th appearance for the Fire since joining the Club at the beginning of the 2020 season.
  • Up top, forward Kacper Pryzybyłko will look to find the back of the net as he leads the attacking unit tonight.
  • With four clean sheets to his name already this season, 17-year-old goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina takes his usual place in net this evening.
  • Available to Hendrickson as substitutions tonight are goalkeeper Spencer Richey, defender Jhon Espinoza, defender Kendall Burks, defender Carlos Terán, defender Andre Reynolds II, midfielder Javier Casas Jr., forward Jhon Durán, forward Victor Bezerra, and forward Chinonso Offor.
  • Forward Fabian Herbers (right hip) and midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri (left calf) are unavailable for selection tonight due to injury.
