Lineup Notes | Chicago Fire FC at CF Montréal

Starting XI List 1920x1080

Chicago Fire FC hits the road Tuesday night for a midweek meeting with CF Montreál.

Coming out of a crucial 3-1 victory over Inter Miami at SeatGeek Stadium on Saturday, Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson and his side will look to keep both their current three-match unbeaten run and their postseason hopes alive with a victory in Canada this evening. These two teams met at Soldier Field barely more than two weeks ago, with the visitors talking full points in a 2-0 win. As it stands, Montréal sit in second place in the Eastern Conference and have clinched a spot in the 2022 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

Tonight's match comes to you on WGN-TV, CF97 Live, Univision Radio, and MLS LIVE's out-of-market package on ESPN+ when things kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT.

All the details on tonight's starting XI and bench are below:

  • Two changes have been made to the starting lineup that was victorious against Inter Miami on Saturday.
  • Andre Reynolds II and Jonathan Bornstein are back in the first XI tonight, replacing the injured Chris Mueller (hip) and Federico Navarro, who will serve a one-match suspension tonight due to yellow card accumulation.
  • After noting his second brace of the season on Saturday, Jhon Durán starts once again at the forward position tonight. The feat saw the young Colombian become just the sixth player in MLS history to notch multiple multi-goal games in a single season at age 18 or younger.
  • Also on the scoresheet Saturday night was Designated Player Xherdan Shaqiri, who finished the Fire's second goal of the evening. He'll take his usual place in central midfield tonight, alongside a pair of Fire Homegrowns in Reynolds II and Brian Gutiérrez.
  • Mauricio Pineda helped set up Shaqiri's goal against Inter Miami on Saturday, and is back in holding midfield tonight to make his 20th start of the campaign.
  • With just a single goal allowed in the team's last three matches, the Fire will ride with same defensive back line of captain Rafael Czichos, Carlos Terán, Boris Sekulić, and Miguel Navarro.
  • 18-year-old goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina starts in net and will look to add to his 12 clean sheets earned so far this season.
  • Available to Hendrickson as substitutions tonight are goalkeeper Spencer Richey, defender Kendall Burks, defender Jhon Espinoza, midfielder Javier Casas Jr., midfielder Sergio Oregel Jr., forward Victor Bezerra, forward Alex Monis, and forward Missael Rodriguez.
  • Defender Wyatt Omsberg (left foot), midfielder Chris Mueller (hip), midfielder Gastón Giménez (right thigh), midfielder Jairo Torres (left lower leg), forward Fabian Herbers (right hip), forward Stanislav Ivanov (right quad), and forward Kacper Przybyłko (back) are unavailable for selection tonight.
