The pair combined for two assists and a goal in the 2-1 victory against the Portland Timbers Sunday at Soldier Field
CHICAGO (Aug. 17, 2026) – Chicago Fire FC midfielder Djé D’Avilla and defender Andrew Gutman were named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 20 following their performance in Sunday's 2-1 win against the Portland Timbers at Soldier Field.
D’Avilla earned his first mention on the MLS Team of the Matchday since joining the Fire in 2025. The midfielder first combined with Gutman in the ninth minute, who lofted a ball behind the Portland defense and into the path of a sprinting Robin Lod for the 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, D’Avilla recorded the highlight of the match when he received a ball from Maren Haile-Selassie and unleashed a stunner from outside the box to make it 2-0.
With his assist of Lod’s opening goal, Gutman was named to the Team of the Matchday for the second time this season. The Chicago Fire Academy graduate got his first mention on Matchday 15, when he sent the Fire into the FIFA World Cup 2026 break on a three-game winning streak after scoring the game-winner in the May 23 match against Toronto FC at Soldier Field. His mention on the league’s weekly honors is his sixth overall in three years with Chicago.
