Toyota Park

CHICAGO (June 11, 2015) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club and the Illinois High School Coaches Association announced today the 2015 Girls All-State All-Academic team. These student athletes represent a group of talented, intelligent, hard-working and community oriented people.
“The Chicago Fire are pleased to recognize these young athletes for their achievements not only on the field, but for their work in the classroom and in their communities,” said Chicago Fire COO Atul Khosla.
Chosen from a pool of almost 80 nominees, this year’s First Team includes five valedictorians. Thirty nine percent of nominees scored 30 or higher on their ACT, with two students receiving a 35. Many of the players also gave back to the game of soccer, with 47 percent serving as soccer coaches and 25 percent serving as referees. Seventy five percent of nominees served as their team captains.
The First Team members will be honored at the IHSSCA Honors Banquet on Thursday, June 11 at the Diplomat West Banquet Hall (681 West North Ave., Elmhurst, IL 60126).
All of the athletes on the teams will be recognized at the Chicago Fire vs. Seattle Sounders FC game at Toyota Park on Saturday, July 11 at 7:30 p.m. CT (CSN/ESPN Deportes 97.5 FM). In addition to being recognized on the scoreboard during the game, these student athletes will be brought on the field after the game for a group photo.
