BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (July 17, 2018) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Raheem Edwards from the Montreal Impact in exchange for $400,000 in Targeted Allocation Money. Edwards is under contract with the Fire through 2018, with club options for 2019 and 2020.

Edwards was traded to the Impact after initially being selected by the Los Angeles Football Club in the 2017 MLS Expansion Draft. This season, Edwards has appeared in 14 league matches and has scored two goals, including the game-winner against the New England Revolution on May 5.

Edwards began his professional career as a member of Toronto FC II in 2015, and joined the first team in 2016. The 23-year-old scored one goal and tallied six assists in 21 league appearances during Toronto’s MLS Cup-winning campaign in 2017.

The Toronto native debuted for the Canadian National Team on June 13, 2017, and was named to Canada’s roster for the 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup.
