Chicago Fire FC Drop 2-0 Result On the Road Versus New York Red Bulls

Harrison, N.J.(May 1, 2021) - Playing a second consecutive away match, Chicago Fire FC (0-2-1, 1 point) dropped a 2-0 result against the New York Red Bulls (1-2-0, 3 points) at Red Bull Arena on Saturday afternoon.


A gritty first half saw Fire defender Francisco Calvo almost put the Fire on the board with a long distance bicycle kick in the 34th minute. RBNY striker FĂĄbio hit the post in the 37th minute but, ultimately, both teams went into halftime scoreless.


New York took the lead in the 47th minute off a goal from Cristian Casseres Jr. and doubled the lead in the 64th minute when Caden Clark buried his second goal of the season.


NEXT GAME: Chicago Fire FC will return to Soldier Field for a match on Saturday, May 8 against Philadelphia Union. The match will begin at 12:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on WGN-TV and CFFC Live/ChicagoFireFC.com. The match will also be transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200AM.

  • Mauricio Pineda earned his first start and appearance for the Fire in 2021.
  • Elliot Collier made his first appearance of the season for the Fire, coming in as a substitute in the 61st minute. Collier had picked up an injury during the preseason in Florida.
  • Brian GutiĂ©rrez came on in the 69th minute to earn his first appearance of 2021. GutiĂ©rrez, 17, earned six appearances in 2020 in his rookie season.
  • Fire Homegrown goalkeeper Chris Brady was named to the Club’s 20-man gameday roster for the first time in his career. Brady, 17, played on loan in 2020 with Fire’s affiliate Forward Madison where he was voted the USL League One Young Player of the Year after an impressive campaign for the Flamingos.
