Fire vs. NYCFC: 5 reasons to attend Saturday afternoon's showdown -

The Chicago Fire are set for another big home fixture this Saturday (2:30 PM) against New York City FC, with the match presented by AT&T. With the 2019 MLS season heating up, check out just a few of the highlights in and around the match that make this one a must-see event.

Summer Celebration

There's no better way to kick off Memorial Day Weekend and the unofficial start of summer than with friends and family at a Fire match, especially one for which game-time temperatures are expected to hover in the upper 70s with plenty of sunshine. And what a summer it's going to be, with a packed slate of Fire home matches combining with the FIFA Women's World Cup, Concacaf Gold Cup -- with the tournament final at Chicago's Soldier Field on July 7 -- as well as Copa America to fill the summer months with soccer.

Streak-Building

The Fire have found their home form over the course of the last month, winning their last three home matches by a combined score of 11-1. Come Saturday, they'll be focused on securing a fourth-straight win at SeatGeek Stadium in a classic six-point swing match against a fellow Eastern Conference contender in New York City FC. The Fire enter the weekend two points back of the Pigeons and, with an eye on the packed playoff race in the east, can greatly benefit from taking full points at home against an NYCFC side that claims two games in hand on the Men In Red.

Heineken Beer Garden Grand Opening

All this summer, fans will have an all-new way to enjoy the countdown to kickoff at SeatGeek Stadium. Open for two hours prior to kickoff, the Heineken Beer Garden is located inside Gate B and offers fans the perfect place to enjoy drinks, music, lawn games, lounge seating and more. Starting this Saturday, the Heineken Beer Garden will be open for each Fire home match through August 17th. It's an especially convenient destination for riders of Pub To Pitch, which on Saturday expands to its full fleet of buses and pub locations for the summer matches.

Last One for a While

While the trio of aforementioned international tournaments mean there'll be plenty of soccer to consume in the month of June, Saturday marks the start of four full weeks between Fire regular-season home matches. Though there's always the possibility of a home Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match in that span, the clash with NYCFC is currently the only guaranteed Fire game at SeatGeek Stadium prior to the June 22 matchup with Real Salt Lake, which also will host the club's annual Pride Night festivities.
