An icon indeed.

Chicago Fire midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger was the recipient of GQ Germany's Sports Icon Award at their 2018 Men of the Year Awards ceremony held at the Komische Oper opera house in Berlin on Thursday.

Alongside wife Ana Ivanovic, Schweinsteiger was one of several high-profile award winners to be recognized in various categories at the event, including actors Henry Cavill, Orlando Bloom, and Patrick Dempsey, musician Jason Derulo, and fashion designer Donatella Versace. He additionally joins past winners and fellow German national team legends Philipp Lahm and Jérôme Boateng as a recipient of the annual sporting honor.

The 34-year-old is coming off of a 2018 MLS regular season campaign that saw him register four goals and add six assists over 31 appearances for the Men in Red, while also being honored for his time spent at FC Bayern Munich with a testimonial match held in his honor in late August.
