Megabandera is back!
Nearly six years to the day (and against the same opponent) that the original giant flag debuted in Section 8 Chicago, an updated 2.0 version was unveiled in front of the NBC Sports Network cameras prior to Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Red Bull.
It had been a while since the entire Harlem End had been covered by such a massive display after the original Megabandera went missing. Despite the fact the display went missing prior to his purchase of the club, Fire owner Andrew Hauptman worked to replace the display, with Section 8 Chicago collaborating on the new design.
Such a big banner can’t be unfurled without massive amounts of prep work. Check out the Storify gallery below, featuring the unpackaging and folding of the banner that took place Thursday night in the Toyota Park parking lot.
