Fittingly this week, we look back on the Fire's 2-0 win over Saturday's opponents D.C. United on April 14, 2001. Spurred by goals from Josh Wolff and Dema Kovalenko, the Fire downed the three-time MLS Cup champions at Soldier Field on this day nine years ago.

Current Fire defender C.J. Brown led a young corps featuring second-year defender Carlos Bocanegra, rookie Jim Curtin and veteran goalkeeper Zach Thornton to the shutout in the victory.
