Cuauhtemoc Blanco scored the lone goal in Veracruz 3-1 loss to Cruz Azul Hidalgo on Sunday. The former Fire #10 has scored five goals since joining los Tiburones Rojos in January. Chris Rolfe continues to play a substitute role for Alborg BK in Denmark, coming on in the 70th minute of the club’s 1-1 draw with Silkeborg last Friday. Trailing 1-0 late, Alborg’s Jeppe Curth found the equalizer in the 88th minute, securing a crucial point for sixth-place AaB. Sitting on 37 points, Rolfe’s club are marred in a tight battle for positioning in the Danish SuperLiga, with just four points separating third place Silkeborg from seventh place Brondby.

With eight matches remaining, Rolfe and Alborg will look to climb the table with three points in this Saturday’s match away to eighth-place AFG Arhus

Carlos Bocanegra went 90 minutes in Stade Rennes 2-1 loss to perennial Ligue 1 powerhouse Olympique Lyon last Saturday. Finding themselves up 1-0 after 15 minutes, Rennes surrendered two second half goals, losing an all important three points at home to the French table toppers.

Seventh in Ligue 1 on 49 points, Bocanegra and Rennes travel to Lorient this Saturday, hoping to distance themselves from the eighth-place side.

Gonzalo Segares appeared in Apollon’s (Cyprus) most recent match on March 28, going the full 90 minutes in the club’s 2-0 loss to Anorhosis. The former Fire left back lines up with another Fire alum, albeit a short term one, in striker Junior Agogo, who made his lone Fire appearance at the beginning of the 2000 MLS season, before being traded to Colorado.

Segares and Agogo will finish the Cypriot season this Saturday when Apollon will look to cement a third-place finish at home to Tserio.
