Lineup Notes | Chicago Fire FC vs Vancouver Whitecaps

Chicago plays host to the Vancouver Whitecaps along Lake Michigan in a midweek match that features the Fire playing against a Western Conference foe for the second consecutive game.

The Fire face a Whitecaps side coming off a 3-2 road win against the Portland Timbers at Providence Park. Chicago has a 5-5-6 record at home in the 2023 MLS regular season, while the Whitecaps are 2-5-3 on the road.

Kickoff at Soldier Field is set for 7:30 p.m. CT and fans can follow all the action on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, and locally via wlsam.com in English and TUDN 1200 AM in Spanish.

  • Striker Kei Kamara will play in his 414th MLS career match, surpassing Chris Wondolowski for fourth place on the all-time appearance list.
  • Captain Rafael Czichos once again leads a backline that includes Carlos Terán, Miguel Navarro and Mauricio Pineda.
  • Pineda is playing in his 100th Major League Soccer match, becoming the first Homegrown player in Club history to play in 100 regular season matches for the Fire.
  • Ivorian midfielder Ousmane Doumbia and Argentine midfielder Federico Navarro start together for the first time as Chicago Fire teammates.
  • Maren Haile-Selassie, Xherdan Shaqiri and Brian Gutiérrez start together once again for the ninth time in the 2023 MLS regular season, and the 11th time overall this year.
  • Goalkeeper Chris Brady returns to the starting lineup for the 22nd time during the 2023 MLS regular season, and 25th time overall.
  • Available off the bench for Head Coach Frank Klopas are goalkeeper Spencer Richey, defenders Alonso Aceves, Jonathan Dean, Arnaud Souquet and Wyatt Omsberg, midfielders Fabian Herbers and Jairo Torres, and forwards Georgios Koutsias and Kacper Przybyłko.
  • Midfielders Gastón Giménez (red card suspension), Chris Mueller (right upper leg) and Javier Casas Jr. (right lower leg), and forward Victor Bezerra (right lower leg) will not be available for tonight’s match.
