Lineup Notes | Chicago Fire FC vs New England Revolution

Chicago returns to the lakefront on Saturday for a clash with the New England Revolution, who currently sits in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. It’s the third match in eight days for Head Coach Frank Klopas and the Fire, who look to keep three points at home as the playoff race remains close.

The match against New England is the final meeting between the two teams in League play this season. The Fire and New England’s previous encounter on May 27 featured a six-goal thriller in a 3-3 tie at Gillette Stadium. Chicago leads the overall head-to-head regular season series with a 27-24-19 record, dating back to 1998, including a 17-7-11 record at home.  

Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. The match will also be transmitted locally in English on 890 WLS-AM and in Spanish on TUDN 1200 AM.

  • Head Coach Frank Klopas made seven changes to the lineup that faced the Columbus Crew on Wednesday night at Lower.com Field.
  • Goalkeeper Chris Brady makes his 26th start of the 2023 MLS regular season and his 28th start overall in 2023.
  • The backline will be led by centerbacks Carlos Terán and Wyatt Omsberg, flanked by Jonathan Dean and Miguel Navarro.
  • Ousmane Doumbia and Gastón Giménez line up together in the midfield for the third-straight match, and the fourth time overall. Joining them in the midfield are Fabian Herbers, Brian Gutiérrez and Jairo Torres.
  • Giménez will wear the captain’s armband against New England.
  • Striker Kei Kamara leads the attack, playing in his 417th MLS career match, good for fourth place on the MLS all-time appearance list.
  • Available off the bench for Klopas are goalkeeper Spencer Richey, defenders Kendall Burks, and Alonso Aceves, midfielder Maren Haile-Selassie, and forwards Georgios Koutsias and Kacper PrzybyÅ‚ko.
  • Defenders Rafael Czichos (left upper leg) and Arnaud Souquet (yellow card accumulation), defender/midfielder Mauricio Pineda (right lower leg), midfielders Javier Casas (right lower leg), Chris Mueller (right upper leg), Federico Navarro (left upper leg) and Xherdan Shaqiri (red card suspension), and forward Victor Bezerra (right lower leg) will not be available for tonight’s match.
