Chicago returns from the 2023 MLS All-Star break with sights set on Leagues Cup 2023, the unique World-Cup style tournament featuring all the clubs from Major League Soccer and Liga MX. Placed in Group Central 2, the Fire will face off against Minnesota United tonight at Allianz Field before hosting Liga MX side Puebla on Monday.

Looking to maintain the momentum from before the break, Chicago has also welcomed midfielder Ousmane Doumbia from sister club FC Lugano.

Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. CT at Allianz Field and the match will be broadcast on Apple TV+, and transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200 AM.

  • Chicago Fire FC Head Coach Frank Klopas has made five changes to the starting XI that took the field against Toronto FC in the Club’s last regular season match on July 15 at Soldier Field.
  • Defenders Arnaud Souquet and Carlos Terán return to the backline from the outset, joining captain Rafael Czichos and Miguel Navarro.
  • Fabian Herbers makes his seventh consecutive start, and his third-straight alongside Gastón Giménez. 
  • Midfielder Jairo Torres returns to the starting XI for the first time since June 24, a 1-0 win against Sporting Kansas City at Children’s Mercy Park. 
  • Torres is joined in the midfield by Maren Haile-Selassie and Brian Gutiérrez, who start opposite each other for the fifth consecutive match. 
  • Kacper PrzybyÅ‚ko leads the attack from the outset, having scored a 90th-minute game winner against Toronto FC on July 15 at Soldier Field. 
  • Goalkeeper Spencer Richey returns to the net to start for the eight time across all competitions this season, including four MLS regular season matches and three 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup games.
  • Leagues Cup 2023 regulations allow for 23 players on a matchday roster. Available off the bench for head coach Frank Klopas are goalkeepers Chris Brady and Jeff Gal, defenders Alonso Aceves, Kendall Burks and Jonathan Dean; midfielders Ousmane Doumbia, Alex Monis, Mauricio Pineda and Xherdan Shaqiri; and forwards Kei Kamara, Georgios Koutsias and Missael Rodríguez.
  • Defender Wyatt Omsberg (left lower leg), midfielders Javier Casas Jr. (right upper arm), Chris Mueller (right upper leg) and Federico Navarro (right lower leg) will not be available for tonight’s match.
