Lineup Notes | Chicago Fire FC at St. Louis CITY SC

Chicago makes the short trip to face St. Louis CITY SC at CITYPARK. Kickoff for the MLS Rivalry Week match is set for 7:30 p.m. CT and the match will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass. It will also be transmitted locally in Chicago on 890 WLS-AM in English and WRTO 1200 AM in Spanish.

Having tied its previous two matches, St. Louis is in search of their first regular season victory since defeating Austin FC 1-0 at CITYPARK on April 14. St. Louis tied Sporting Kansas City 3-3 on April 20 at Children’s Mercy Park, and tied Houston Dynamo FC 0-0 on May 4 at Shell Energy Stadium.

  • Chicago Fire Head Coach Frank Klopas made two changes to the lineup that faced the New England Revolution last Saturday at Soldier Field.
  • Designated Player Xherdan Shaqiri returns to the XI, wearing the captain’s armband against St. Louis.
  • Goalkeeper Chris Brady makes his 11th start of the season in the net, having only missed one game due to international duty.
  • Allan Arigoni and Hugo Cuypers start their 12th consecutive match of the season together, while midfielders Kellyn Acosta and Fabian Herbers start their 11th game together this season.
  • Brian Gutiérrez starts his eighth match of the season and will play in his 99th MLS regular season match, making him just one shy of becoming the second Homegrown Player to reach 100 games with the Fire.
  • Andrew Gutman makes his fourth start of the season against St. Louis after playing the full 90 minutes against New England last week.
  • Chris Mueller starts his sixth straight match, playing in his ninth game of the season. The Schaumburg native will play in his 155th Major League Soccer match.
  • Mauricio Pineda starts his third straight game for the Fire, playing in his 10th game of the season.
  • Defender Carlos Terán returns to the XI for his third start of the regular season and his sixth match overall, replacing Czichos who left the previous match due to injury.
  • Chase Gasper (upper leg), Gastón Giménez (upper leg), Maren Haile-Selassie (lower leg) and Tobias Salquist (upper leg) are unavailable for today’s match.
  • Available off the bench for Coach Klopas are goalkeeper Spencer Richey; defenders Rafael Czichos, Jonathan Dean, Wyatt Omsberg and Arnaud Souquet; midfielders Federico Navarro and Omari Glasgow; and forwards Tom Barlow and Georgios Koutsias.
