Lineup Notes | Chicago Fire FC at Inter Miami CF

Starting XI List 1920x1080[14]

Chicago Fire FC begins a six-match road trip on Wednesday night when they visit Fort Laurderdale's DRV PNK Stadium to take on Inter Miami CF.

These two sides have met once previously in 2021, with the Fire coming out victorious in a 1-0 contest at Soldier Field on May 22. Head coach Raphael Wicky's side carry a four-match August unbeaten run into this week's contest, which includes wins in their last two. Miami enter the matchup in 12th place in the Eastern Conference, and have picked up two wins and a draw in their last three matches at home.

Coverage of Wednesday night's match can be found on WGN-TV, CFFC Live, Latino Mix 93.5 FM, and MLS LIVE's out-of-market package on ESPN+. With kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. CT, here's the intel on the Fire's starting XI and bench.

  • Three changes have been made to the starting lineup that began Sunday's 1-0 win against the Columbus Crew.
  • Forward Robert Berić gets the starting nod this evening, returning to the opening XI for the first time since July 24. He replaces Chinonso Offor, who is available as a substitute this evening.
  • Stanislav Ivanov makes his second Fire start tonight after earning his first on Aug. 4 against New York City FC.
  • Defender Jhon Espinoza replaces Boris Sekulić, making his ninth appearance and second start of the season. He'll line up out wide opposite Jonathan Bornstein.
  • After scoring his third goal in two matches on Sunday, midfielder Luka Stojanović is back in Wicky's starting XI to take on Miami. Stojanović was named to the Week 19 MLS Team of the Week bench for his effort. Stojanović was recently named the Week 18 MLS Player of the Week for his two-goal effort that helped the Fire beat the New York Red Bulls 2-1 on Aug. 4.
  • Joining Stojanović on the latest MLS Team of the Week was captain Francisco Calvo, who was named to the weekly squad's first XI. Calvo continuously turned away the Crew attack on Sunday to help earn the clean sheet, and will look to do so again this evening. He'll partner with Carlos Terán and Mauricio Pineda in central defense for the third-straight match.
  • After earning Heineken Man of the Match honors on Sunday for his efforts in midfield, Fabian Herbers returns to the opening XI tonight, starting for the fourth straight match. He'll again partner with Gastón Giménez behind Stojanović in the center of the park.
  • Rounding out the lineup is goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth, who will look to make it back-to-back clean sheets tonight.
  • Available to Wicky as substitutions tonight are goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina, defender Johan Kappelhof, defender Miguel Navarro, defender Wyatt Omsberg, defender Boris Sekulić, midfielder Brian Gutiérrez, midfielder Álvaro Medrán, forward Elliot Collier, and forward Robert Berić.
  • Midfielder Javier Casas Jr. (right shin), midfielder Ignacio Aliseda (calf), and goalkeeper Kenneth Kronholm (right knee) are out due to injury for tonight's match.
