Lineup Notes | Chicago Fire FC at D.C. United

Chicago looks to get back on the right foot in a trip to Washington, D.C. where the team will face off against longtime rival D.C. United at Audi Field. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. CT, the match will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass and transmitted locally on wlsam.com (English) and WRTO 1200 AM (Spanish).

Saturday’s match marks the 70th all-time regular season match between the two Eastern Conference foes. D.C. United is back on home turf with their mind set on reversing the 1-0 road loss to Inter Miami at Chase Stadium on Saturday, May 18.

  • Head Coach Frank Klopas made three changes to the lineup that faced the Columbus Crew on Saturday at Soldier Field.
  • Midfielder Kellyn Acosta will don the captain’s armband for the Fire for the first time from the outset.
  • Forward Tom Barlow makes his first start for the Men in Red, participating in his 12th match of the 2024 regular season.
  • Midfielder Federico Navarro returns to the starting lineup for the third-straight time, and the fourth time overall in 2024.
  • Goalkeeper Chris Brady and defenders Allan Arigoni and Rafael Czichos start for the 13th match in the 2024 regular season. Brady has only missed one game in 2024 due to international duty, and is the Homegrown goalkeeper with the most starts in Club history.
  • Forward Hugo Cuypers starts his 15th consecutive match for the Fire, making him the only player on the squad to have started every match so far in 2024.
  • Defender Carlos Terán makes his fourth start of the regular season, and his sixth overall of 2024. Terán and Czichos start their third consecutive match together in the backline.
  • Defender/midfielder Mauricio Pineda returns to the starting lineup, earning his sixth start of 2024 and his 96th career start for the Men in Red.
  • Defender Andrew Gutman makes his sixth-straight start, and seventh Start overall. Gutman has started every match in which he has played for the Men in Red so far in 2024.
  • Homegrown midfielder Brian Gutiérrez starts for the 11th time this season, breaking the centennial mark with 101 regular season appearances for the Men in Red.
  • Defenders Chase Gasper (leg) and Tobias Salquist (leg); and midfielders Chris Mueller (leg) and Xherdan Shaqiri (international duty) are unavailable for today’s match.
  • Available off the bench for Coach Klopas are goalkeeper Spencer Richey; defenders Jonathan Dean, Wyatt Omsberg and Arnaud Souquet; midfielders Gastón Giménez, Maren Haile-Selassie and Fabian Herbers; and forward Georgios Koutsias.
