Lineup Notes | Chicago Fire FC at Atlanta United


Chicago heads to Georgia to face Atlanta United FC in the 15th encounter between the Eastern Conference foes. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on MLS Season Pass and FOX. The match will also be transmitted locally in Chicago via in English and WRTO 1200 AM in Spanish.

The Fire is coming off a 1-1 draw against the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium, in which forward Hugo Cuypers became the first Fire player this season to score in back-to-back matches. Head Coach Frank Klopas faces off against former Mexico international Gonzalo Pineda, currently in his fourth season at the helm of Atlanta United.

Atlanta is looking to rebound after falling 2-0 to Toronto FC last Saturday at BMO Field in Toronto.

  • Midfielders Kellyn Acosta and Gastón Giménez start together for the second-straight game, and third game overall.
  • Midfielders Brian Gutiérrez and Maren Haile-Selassie, and forward Hugo Cuypers start their sixth-consecutive match together.
  • Defender Carlos Terán earns his first start of the season after coming on as a substitute in the matches against the New England Revolution and CF Montréal following his recovery from surgery in the offseason.
  • Defender Jonathan Dean earns his second-straight start of the regular season in his home state of Georgia.
  • Defenders Rafael Czichos and Allan Arigoni start together for the sixth-straight match. Arigoni and Czichos have played the full 90 minutes in the Fire’s five games so far this season.
  • Defenders Chase Gasper (upper leg), Andrew Gutman (upper leg) and Wyatt Omsberg (upper leg) are unavailable for today’s match.
  • Available off the bench for Coach Klopas are goalkeeper Spencer Richey, defenders Tobias Salquist and Arnaud Souquet, defender/midfielder Mauricio Pineda, midfielders Chris Mueller, Federico Navarro and Xherdan Shaqiri, and forwards Tom Barlow and Georgios Koutsias.
