In Day 9 of the 2011 Goal of the Year Tournament, #1 Marco Pappa became the first player to have an entry move into the semifinals two straight years as his Hat Trick clincher from September 28 at Real Salt Lake downed #2 Dominic Oduro’s Stealthy Flick from August 21 vs. Toronto FC. With the victory, Pappa has won the Nowak region and awaits the winner of the Armas championship, either #1 Jalil Anibaba (3/30 vs. COL) or #2 Sebastian Grazzini (10/15 at DC) in the Final Four to be played next Wednesday, November 16.

Dominic Oduro will look to redeem Thursday’s loss today in the Klopas Bracket final as his #1 seeded goal, the looping game winner on August 30 vs. Richmond in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals goes up against #3 Cory Gibbs’ diving equalizer from May 28 vs. San Jose. The winner will be crowned Klopas Regional champion, moving to the Final Four where they’ll await the winner of the Kubik Bracket next Thursday, November 17.
