Four Chicago Fire FC Players Called Up by U.S. Youth National Teams

Sergio Oregel Jr., Dylan Borso, Christopher Cupps and Robert Turdean join the U.S. Youth National Teams at different age levels this summer

CHICAGO (June 2, 2026) – Four Chicago Fire FC players have been called to represent the United States at different age levels prior to FIFA World Cup 2026. Sergio Oregel Jr. was called to the U.S. U-21 Men’s National Team; Dylan Borso was called to the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team; Christopher Cupps joined the U.S. U-19 Men’s National Team; and Robert Turdean was called up to the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team.

Sergio Oregel Jr. – U.S. U-21 Men’s National Team

It is the first call-up to the USYNT for Oregel Jr. since traveling to an international camp in Egypt with the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team in June 2025. The midfielder joins a group of 19 players led by Northwestern University head coach Russell Payne for an international camp in Slovenia from June 1-9. The U-21 MNT will play matches against Ukraine on June 5 (11 a.m. CT / 6 p.m. local) and Uzbekistan U-21 on June 8 (11 a.m. CT / 6 p.m. local), with both games taking place at Nogometno igrišče Stadium in Rogaška Slatina.

Dylan Borso – U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team

Borso was called into his third U-20 USMNT camp of 2026 by head coach Rob Valentino. The U.S. will travel to Bansko, Bulgaria, where the team will face Georgia U-21 on June 5 (6 a.m. CT / 2 p.m. local) before taking on North Macedonia U-21 on June 8 (7 a.m. CT / 3 p.m. local). Both matches will be played at Stadion Hristo Botev in Blagoevgrad. The Homegrown has played primarily as a defender in four appearances with Chicago Fire FC this season but will be deployed as a forward while in Bulgaria.

Christopher Cupps – U.S. U-19 Men’s National Team

After joining the U-18 MNT in the March international window, Cupps has moved up to the U-19 category for a domestic training camp at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center from June 1-9. Coached by former Fire defender and U.S. Olympic Team coach Gonzalo Segares, the U-19 MNT will face Japan on Tuesday, June 9 at 10 a.m. CT. The team will continue its preparation for this summer’s Concacaf U-20 Championship, which serves as qualification for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

Robert Turdean – U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team

Turdean joins Chicago Fire II winger Darris Hyte and 18 other players for a training camp to held from June 1-11 in Natal, Brazil. During the camp, the U-17 MNT will face Brazil in two friendly matches on June 7 (2 p.m. CT / 4 p.m. local) and June 10 (6 p.m. CT / 8 p.m. local) at Arena das Dunas. The Homegrown midfielder most recently represented the U-16 Boys’ National Team in April at the Vertex Cup in Miami, where he won the tournament’s most valuable player award after his performances against England, Mexico and Argentina.
