After scoring his first professional goal in the Chicago Fire's 2-0 win over New York City FC on Wednesday night, midfielder Federico Navarro has been included in Major League Soccer's Team of the Week for Week 28.
After forward Robert Berić delivered the lead with a goal in the 48th minute, Navarro doubled it in the 66th. Finding room to make a run into the 18-yard-box, the Argentine arrived with space to meet a feed from Berić with a right-footed effort that snuck through the legs of NYCFC goalkeeper Sean Johnson and ultimately secured the full three points for the Fire.
Navarro's first tally was paired with a stout performance defensively in central midfield that saw the Fire earn their second-straight clean sheet. He was additionally named Heineken Man of the Match for his efforts.
Navarro and the Fire resume play on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Canada to take on Toronto FC at 3 p.m. CT. Catch coverage of the match on WGN, CFFC Live, WOJO 105.1 FM HD-3, and MLS LIVE's out-of-market package on ESPN+.
