April 19, 2022 – Chicago Fire FC today announced that Christina Murillo, Head of Pre-Formation Phase and Community Outreach for the Club, will serve as a draw assistant for the 2022 Concacaf W Championship (CWC) draw. The live TV event, which will divide the eight participating teams into two groups, will take place today at 6:00 p.m. CT.
Murillo, who played in the last two editions of the Concacaf Women’s Championship in 2014 and 2018, appeared in 46 matches with the Mexican National Team, including two appearances in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The former international defender also starred at the Youth National Team level with El Tricolor, playing in the 2010 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship and the 2012 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship before going on to represent her country at the 2010 FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup and the 2012 FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup.
Since joining the Club as a community ambassador in 2018, Murillo now oversees the Juniors U-13 to U-15 program, including leading the coaching staff, developing curriculum and advises on all team selections, tournaments, and leagues.
In addition to representing Mexico, Murillo played two years for the Chicago Red Stars (2018-2019).
