CHICAGO (Oct. 25, 2022) - Chicago Fire FC today announced that goalkeeper Chris Brady and midfielder Brian Gutiérrez were called into national team duty for the U.S. U-20 Men’s Youth National Team. Brady and Gutierrez will be reporting to Dallas, Texas as a part of the final roster to participate in a domestic camp that takes place from Oct. 25-Nov. 5. The camp will run concurrently with a U.S. Men’s National Team training camp.
This will mark the third time this cycle that Brady and Gutiérrez represent the USMYNT together. The two Homegrowns recently participated in the 2022 Revelations Cup in Mexico City, an international tournament which took place from Sept. 18-28. Gutierrez tallied two goals in three matches, and Brady picked up two victories and a clean sheet in the 2-0 victory over Paraguay. Additionally, they both participated in a national camp that took place on March 21-30 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
For Chris Brady, this will be his fifth appearance representing the United States Youth National Team. Prior to September’s Revelations Cup, his most notable appearance in the red, white, and blue came in the CONCACAF U-20 Championships, which took place from June 8-July 3 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Brady and the U-20’s won gold at the U-20 championships, and clinched a spot in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics. Brady will be eligible to participate in both.
In addition to the victory, Brady won the Golden Glove, the award presented to the top goalkeeper in the tournament, after playing in six of the seven matches for the USMYNT, and not conceding a single goal in the knockout rounds.
As for Gutiérrez, this will be his fourth time playing for the U-20 USMYNT in this cycle, with his last appearances taking place at the 2022 Revelations Cup. Before that, Gutiérrez participated in an international camp in Buenos Aires, Argentina last March. Additionally, Gutierrez participated in the January Camp, as well as the 2021 Revelations Cup that took place in Guanajuato, Mexico from Nov. 9-17.
This will mark Gutierrez’s third time playing under Mikey Varas, head coach of the U-20 USMYNT, who is coming off of a victory at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
