2025 Team Defensive Player of the Year extends through the 2027-28 season
CHICAGO (Sept. 17, 2026) – Chicago Fire FC today announced that the Club has signed defender Jack Elliott to a new contract. Elliott is now under contract with the Club through the 2027-28 season with a Club option for 2028-29.
“Jack has been an important part of our team for the past two seasons,” said Chicago Fire FC Head Coach and Director of Football Gregg Berhalter. “He’s a proven competitor who brings experience, professionalism, and leadership to our group. As we continue building a deep and talented roster, his ability to set standards on and off the field will be invaluable to our team and the club.”
Elliott, 31, has started all 67 games across all competitions that he has played for the Chicago Fire since joining the squad in December 2024 from the Philadelphia Union. He was also named 2025 Chicago Fire FC Defensive Player of the year after leading the team in minutes played with 2,939 and registering four goals and three assists as a defender.
“Playing for and captaining the Fire has been one of the greatest honors of my career, and I’m proud to continue representing this club and this city,” said Elliott. “I believe in what we’re building here, and I’m excited for what’s ahead. The goal is to win, and I’ll give everything I have to help bring a trophy back to Chicago.”
Prior to joining the Fire, Elliott spent eight seasons with the Philadelphia Union, where he helped lead the team to the 2022 MLS Cup Final and the 2020 Supporters’ Shield, awarded to the team with the best regular season record in MLS.
The versatile defender has made 336 appearances across all competitions in the U.S., including the Major League Soccer regular season, Major League Soccer Playoffs, Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup, Concacaf Champions League and Leagues Cup.
