CHICAGO (July 5, 2021) – Chicago Fire FC forward Ignacio Aliseda was voted the MLS Player of the Week for Week 11 of the 2021 season. Aliseda received Player of the Week honors after a breakout performance against Atlanta United FC on July 3, tallying two goals and an assist to lead the Fire to a 3-0 home win.

The Argentine forward put the Fire ahead in the 34th minute of play when he blasted a powerful strike that deflected off Atlanta midfielder Mo Adams and hit the crossbar on its way into the back of the net. Aliseda doubled the Fire’s lead in the sixth minute of first half stoppage time when he perfectly curled the ball into the far corner from the edge of the 18-yard box, leaving Atlanta goalkeeper Brad Guzan with no chance of making a save.

Continuing his strong play in the second half, Aliseda provided the assist on the game’s final goal, setting up Przemysław Frankowski for his first goal of the season in the 58th minute. The win against Atlanta marked Aliseda’s first-ever professional brace. Additionally, it was the Club’ first brace since Frankowski’s scored twice against New York City FC on Nov. 8, 2020.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.

Chicago Fire FC will play their final game of a four-game homestand at Soldier Field, facing Orlando City SC on Wednesday, July 7. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcast nationally on UniMás, TUDN, Twitter (English audio) and TUDN 1200AM.
