CHICAGO (Sept. 2, 2026) – Chicago Fire FC today announced that the Club has received $50,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money and $100,000 in 2027 General Allocation Money, as well as a future sell and trade percentage, from Real Salt Lake in exchange for forward Jason Shokalook. The Club may acquire an additional $50,000 if certain performance metrics are met.

"We appreciate everything Jason has brought to our Club and the Chicago Fire development pathway,” said Chicago Fire FC Director of Football and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. “Given the depth and competition within our striker group, opportunities have been limited, so this move provides him with a chance to earn valuable minutes, continue his development and further his MLS career."

Shokalook, who was the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot winner and a 2025 MLS NEXT Pro MVP Finalist, became the fourth player from Chicago Fire FC II to sign an MLS contract with the First Team when he signed in December 2025. He made his MLS debut while on a Short-Term Agreement, playing 14 minutes and registering an assist in the 7-1 win against D.C. United on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Audi Field.

The forward made 16 appearances across all competitions for the Men in Red in 2026, registering an assist in the 5-0 win against Sporting Kansas City on April 25 at Soldier Field. He also scored two goals against Detroit City FC in the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 on April 14 at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, Mich.

The Erie, Pa. native originally joined Chicago Fire II in February 2024 after being selected by the Fire with the No. 35 overall pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft.

Transaction: Chicago Fire FC acquires $50,000 in 2026 GAM and $100,000 in 2027 GAM from Real Salt Lake in exchange for forward Jason Shokalook.
