Chicago Fire FC Academy Travel to Face Shattuck-St. Mary’s and Michigan Jaguars

CHICAGO(May 3, 2021) – The Chicago Fire FC Academy U-15, U-17 and U-19 squads traveled to Minnesota to face Shattuck-St. Mary’s on Saturday, May 1, while the U-13 and U-14 teams traveled to Michigan to face the Michigan Jaguars on Sunday, May 2. The teams came home with four wins and one draw in MLS Next play. 


The U-15 Fire Academy team kicked off the weekend on Saturday with a 3-0 win against Shattuck-St. Mary’s, with goals from Kamden Held (unassisted), Michael Ramírez and Kevin Contreras. Gabriel Antunez assisted both Ramírez’s and Contreras’ goals. 


Two hours later, the U-17 team drew 2-2 with Shattuck-St. Mary’s, with an unassisted goal from Cristian Torres-Gale and a penalty kick from Celestino Vasquez. 


Six different goal-scorers gave the U-19 team a 6-0 victory to close out the matchday, with Missael Rodríguez (Sergio Oregel), Richard Fleming (Erik Kocs-Washburn), Joshua Torres (unassisted), Luka Bezerra (unassisted), Diego Alvarado (Joshua Torres) and Noeh Hernández (Oregel) all getting on the board for the Fire Academy. 


In Michigan, the U-13 team won 9-0 against the Michigan Jaguars, powered by a Vitaliy Hlyut hattrick, with assists by Andrej Ilich and Dylan Healy. Ilich (unassisted) and Healy (Ilich) then scored goals of their own, along with Michael Sarna (unassisted), Parker Amoo-Mensah (Jack Wesley), Ethan Koranda (Aaron Ineh) and Johnny Nesci (unassisted). 


The U-14 team followed suit, winning 7-0 against the Jaguars with a hattrick from Omar Ortiz (Nick Mitrega, Marius Aiyenero), two goals from Makhi Francis (Aiyenero) and one goal each from Anthony Masino (unassisted) and Nick Mitrega (Vlad Simkus).
