CHICAGO(March 10, 2015) – The Chicago Fire defeated Notre Dame 1-0 in a friendly Tuesday afternoon on the Toyota Park Turf Field. Brazilian defender Adailton scored the lone goal of the game in the 22ndminute as the Fire continue their buildup to Opening Day.

The match was an opportunity for Fire reserves and others, like Adailton, who did not feature in the club's season-opening match at LA Galaxy on Friday.

The first chance of the game belonged to Notre Dame in the 19th minute, when midfielder Patrick Hodan put a low shot off the post.

The Fire would find goal three minutes later. After earning a corner, the ball fell to Homegrown midfielder Collin Fernandez, who sent a cross into the box and found the head of Adailton, who snapped his header on goal and past Notre Dame ‘keeper Brian Talcott for the lone goal of the match.

Notre Dame finished the opening 45 minutes with a flourish in front of Jon Busch's goal, but the Fire snuffed out their opponent's chances and went on to post the clean sheet in front of Alec Kann in the second half.

Among those in the Starting XI for the Irish was defender Michael Shipp, younger brother of former Notre Dame standout and Fire Homegrown product Harry Shipp.
