Chicago Fire defeat Austin FC 1-0 in 2022 preseason finale

In the team's final tune-up match of the 2022 preseason, Chicago Fire FC took down Austin FC 1-0 on Saturday at St. David’s Performance Center in Austin, Texas.

Saturday's match marked the Fire's third shut out in four preseason matches overall. The defense allowed one goal total in those four matches.

Gastón Giménez provided the winner for Chicago, catching Austin FC's goalkeeper off his line with a strike from midfield.

The Fire now return to Chicago briefly prior to departing for their 2022 season opener on the road against Inter Miami FC. That match kicks off at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 26 live on WGN-TV and ChicagoFireFC.com/live.
