CHICAGO (Aug. 16, 2022) - Chicago Fire FC today announced that goalkeeper Patryk Stechnij was called in to represent the U-16 U.S. Men’s Youth National Team. Stechnij, 16, will be reporting to the MYNT Domestic Camp in Chula Vista, CA, which will take place from August 18-24, 2022.

For Stechnij, this will be his second time representing the U.S. Men’s Youth National Team. He most recently wore the red, white, and blue for the U-15 MYNT in the Torneo delle Nazioni, a premier youth international tournament that took place from April 25-May 1 in Gradisca, Italy and Seẑana, Slovenia. On April 25, Stechnij and the USMYNT recorded a 1-1 tie against Belgium, then defeated Slovenia 3-2 on April 27 to clinch first place in Group Stage play. The U-15 USMYNT came in fourth place following losses to Italy and Portugal in the elimination stage.

Stechnij, the starting goalkeeper for the Fire Academy U-16 team, joined the Academy in 2019 after being part of the Chicago Fire Juniors program. He will be joining a U-16 squad that has a reputation of producing young USMNT talents including George Bello, Gianluca Busio, Gio Reyna, Joe Scally and current Chicago Fire FC goalkeeper, Gabriel “Gaga” Slonina.
