Chicago Fire defender Francisco Calvo started for the Costa Rica Men's National Team in a 1-1 2022 World Cup qualifying draw against Jamaica on Wednesday.

From Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica, Calvo suited up for his third-straight appearance of the current FIFA international window. Costa Rica's Jimmy Marín opened scoring in the third minute, giving Los Ticos a 1-0 lead they'd hold until Shamar Nicholson equalized for Jamaica in the 47th minute. Calvo was substituted in the first minute of second half stoppage time for Jurguens Montenegro.

Wednesday's draw followed Costa Rica's 0-0 draw at Panama last week and a 1-0 home defeat to Mexico on Sunday. At the time the match concluded, Calvo's side resided in fifth place in the eight-team Concacaf standings with two points through three matches played.

The top three teams in the table automatically qualifying for the World Cup, while the fourth-place team advances to a continental playoff.

Costa Rica resumes World Cup qualifying next month with matches against Honduras (Oct. 7), El Salvador (Oct. 10), and the United States (Oct.13).
