Chicago Fire FC II is back home in the Windy City, ready to face the New York Red Bulls II at SeatGeek Stadium on Sunday, July 27.
After cutting a nine-game winning streak short with a loss to the New England Revolution II, Chicago regained its form on Sunday with a 3-2 win against Toronto FC II. The Young Reds twice took leads before forward Jason Shokalook scored twice in the span of three minutes to end the match, while winger Claudio Cassano added his fifth goal of the season for Chicago. Chicago Fire Academy goalkeeper David Molenda made 13 saves to earn a win in his MLS NEXT Pro debut.
New York arrives in Chicago following a two-game winning streak, beating Hudson River Derby rivals New York City FC II 4-2 on Sunday. Forward Mijahir Jimenez recorded his first MLS Next Pro hat trick, making him the youngest in the club to do so at just 18 years of age. Midfielder Nehuén Benedetti helped seal the deal for the Red Bulls, providing one goal.
Sunday will be Chicago Fire II’s second of three matches against the Eastern Conference’s first-place team in 2025. New York took the first one in a 3-2 win in New Jersey to start April. But the Fire have never lost to New York in two matches at SeatGeek Stadium, going 1-0-1 since 2023.

Forward Jason Shokalook has been a valuable asset on the pitch for Chicago Fire FC II since his debut season in 2024. He has developed a knack for scoring in the clutch, which was on full display this past Sunday when he netted two goals in just three minutes against Toronto FC II.
Shokalook has played in 15 matches this season, accumulating 965 valuable minutes. He ranks ninth in MLS Next Pro and leads the Fire in scoring with seven goals. On June 14, he signed a short-term agreement with the first team. The same day, “Shok” made his Major League Soccer debut against D.C. United in the 76th minute, recording an assist for Brian Gutiérrez’s goal that wrapped up a 7-1 victory for the Men in Red.
