Chicago Fire FC II will welcome Philadelphia Union II to SeatGeek Stadium for an Eastern Conference clash on Friday, August 15.
After scoring 15 goals in its prior two matches, the attack continued to flow for Chicago in a 3-3 draw at New York City FC II last Friday. After falling behind 2-0 in the first half, the Fire drew one back through an own goal before Claudio Cassano tied it in the 37th minute. NYCFC II retook the lead in the second-half, but the Fire’s leading goal-scorer Jason Shokalook tallied to finish the road draw. Goalkeeper Bryan Dowd had two saves in the ensuing shootout to win an extra point for Chicago.
Philadelphia arrives in Bridgeview coming off a rare stumble against first-place New York Red Bulls II on Monday night. In a meeting of two of the best attacking teams in MLS NEXT Pro, it was the New York defense that shined, shutting out the Union in a 2-0 victory. Although Philadelphia features on the best offense in the league, it’s the defense that has driven much of the success, allowing a league-low 19 goals this season.
Friday night will mark the eighth matchup between the sides, with each side currently 2-2-3 against the other. Their last meeting, a 2-1 Fire win on Decision Day 2024, clinched a playoff home match for Chicago.

Following the end of the 2024-25 MLS NEXT season, Chicago Fire Academy defender Josue Pfrommer has quickly become an integral part of the Chicago Fire II roster.
Pfrommer made his season debut on June 28 against New England Revolution II, but it was in late July when the defender started becoming a regular for the team, appearing in the last four consecutive matches. The 17-year-old has now started the last two, looking like he belongs among players well above his age group. His 90-minute performance in the team’s 6-1 win against Columbus on Aug. 3 was emblematic of his work – starting at center back before switching to right back and adding four shots and in Chicago’s dominant victory.
