CHICAGO (June 4, 2025) – Chicago Fire FC II and MLS NEXT Pro today announced that the team has been named MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 12 following a dominant 5-0 victory over Columbus Crew 2 on Sunday afternoon at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Ill.
Five different players scored for Chicago in a rematch between the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs rivals. Defender Diego Konincks opened the afternoon with his first goal of the season, followed by defender Justin Reynolds’ second of the season in the first half. Trip Fleming, Jean Alpha Diouf and Jason Shokalook each added a goal in the second half of the match to complete the scoring. Goalkeeper Patrick Los made three saves to record his second clean sheet of the year and fifth win for Chicago.
The weekly honor is the second of the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro regular season for Chicago Fire II. The team last earned the honor on Matchweek 8, when the Fire defeated another 2024 postseason opponent, Orlando City B, in their first match at Flames Field in Chicago. Three of the goalscorers in Sunday’s match – Reynolds, Diouf and Shokalook – also tallied in that 5-1 rout of Orlando.
