BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (Aug. 23, 2026) – Chicago Fire FC II (10-8-6-3, 39 points) won 3-1 against Inter Miami CF II (2-17-4-1, 11 points) Sunday afternoon at SeatGeek Stadium. The victory kept Chicago in the final playoff spot of the Eastern Conference at the conclusion of the match.
Miami exploited Chicago’s ample possession in the 27th minute as Mateo Saja recovered a ball in the midfield. The midfielder played to wingback Cesar Abadia-Reda, who dribbled to the top of the box and ripped a shot that gave his side the lead.
Chicago came into the second half hungry for the equalizer. Just two minutes in, forward Tidiane Diawara lunged for a cross in the box before being tugged down. The referee pointed at the spot, and right back Dylan Borso sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to level the score in the 48th minute.
Borso’s goal opened the floodgates for CFII as forward Dean Boltz came away with the ball in the 54th minute before switching to Borso, who unleashed a shot that Miami goalkeeper Matias Marin managed to parry. Fresh off the bench at halftime, winger Brody Williams pounced on the rebound and slammed it off the crossbar and in for his second goal in as many matches.
Five minutes later, Diawara took off on a run down the right wing before expertly crossing to the far side of the box, where Boltz smoothly tapped home the third goal of the half. The Herons finally settled to deny CFII any further goals, but could not generate any more of their own to help Chicago reach double-digit win figures for the third consecutive year.
