Chicago Fire FC II will make a second consecutive appearance in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference semifinals with a road rematch against New York Red Bulls II on Sunday, Oct. 26.

Chicago returns to the Eastern Conference semis following a 1-0 win at New England Revolution II last Sunday, Oct. 19. Chicago Fire Academy goalkeeper David Molenda made three saves to keep his goal intact in his postseason debut. But the Fire finally broke through in the 86th minute, when forward Jason Shokalook connected a pass to Dylan Borso on the right flank. Borso carried the ball to the touchline before sending a cross to the far post, where David Poreba headed it down under the New England goalkeeper and into the back of the net for the game-winner.

As the first seed in the East, New York picked Chicago in the league’s Pick-Your-Opponent format after cruising to a playoff-opening 5-1 home victory over Carolina Core FC on Sunday. The Red Bulls won the season series against Chicago in 2025, taking two of the three matchups. But Chicago’s lone victory in the series finished in a commanding fashion: a 9-2 result at SeatGeek Stadium on July 27, the largest margin of victory in team history and the highest scoring match in league history.
