Following their performances in Sunday night's 1-0 victory against Columbus Crew SC at Soldier Field, Chicago Fire FC defender Francisco Calvo and midfielder Luka Stojanović were selected to Major League Soccer's Team of the Week for Week 19.
Captain Calvo was named to the weekly squad's first XI after an outsized defensive effort helped contribute to a clean sheet on the night. Calvo repeatedly turned away the Columbus attack, picking up team-highs in tackles won (4), interceptions (4), duels won (13), and recoveries (12) while dictating much of the Fire's possession.
With his third goal in two matches, Stojanović was named to the Week 19 bench following his Week 18 Player of the Week and Team of the Week honors. Stojanović's 77th minute finish proved to be the eventual game-winner in what were a crucial three points picked up at home.
Calvo, Stojanović, and the Fire will now look to remain unbeaten in August as they set out on a six-game road trip that begins this Wednesday at Inter Miami CF (6:30 p.m. CT | WGN-TV, CFFC Live, Latino Mix 93.5 FM).
